About the Global Apostolic Council for California

History

Surf's Up November 2008

In August 2007 a group of international prayer leaders from Canada met with local prayer leaders in Hollywood and Los Angeles. As a result of that meeting the Global Apostolic Council for California was ultimately formed and this website created.

A year of preparation followed and in November 2008 a delegation of prayer leaders came to the largest American Film Festival in Santa Monica, CA to pray and intercede for the entertainment industry. 8 days of meetings, intercession and prayer and worship resulted in very positive feedback from Christian exhibitors at the American Film Festival.

We need to be the forerunners who move with excellence and produce the best of the best in all fields.  This is one of the most strategic battle fronts we face because it affects the minds, hearts, and passions of the masses.  The church should be actively empowering and cheering on the “Bravehearts” who are gifted in these arenas.

About the Council

The Global Apostolic Council 4 California is committed to building strategic alliances to encourage global corporate unity in the Body of Christ. It is our desire to unify the local and statewide Church in California, in a new wineskin, touching the arts, entertainment & media through prayer & God's love, in order to reach beyond our territorial limits to affect the global Church and the world!

We acknowledge that we are a part of a larger Body of believers, worldwide, that is called of God to complete His work prior to His return. Through developing strong relationships, uniting in prayer and developing divine strategies, we want to do our part in gathering the local Body of Christ in California through the "Global Gate of Hollywood".

We use the term "Global Gates" to refer to seats of power, places of influence where key decisions are made. The Bible teaches that designated elders sat at the city gates and made decisions and exercised authority that affected their region, the surrounding territories and in some cases, the world! (Ps. 24:7)

The entire world is connected by one common thread; different forms of media! Hollywood, being the media, arts & entertainment capital of the world, is a Global gate that affects the entire world! Decisions made in Hollywood impact the entire world, either for good or for bad. Hollywood has far-reaching influences and in many cases, defines entire cultures.

We believe this is is time for Hollywood to become what God originally intended; to be redemptive & healing to the nations!

As we help to unite the local Body in California, it is equally important for us to connect to the Greater Body of Christ outside of Hollywood, serving the world through this Global Gate, by working together in a spirit of unity & humility with other churches, Christian organizations, ministries, etc.

Definitions

Definition and meaning of "Global Apostolic Council for California" Global - "Of, relating to, or involving the entire earth; worldwide". Global describes tens of thousands of different tribes and tongues. But global also describes Los Angeles, California, a city with millions of people from the nations of the earth; a city of nations. Apostolic - "Of, relating to, or derived from the teaching or practice of the twelve Apostles". Some teach that the modern ministry of an apostle is solely church planting. However, we believe the apostolic function extends to the establishment of new works. While a work might be something "new", the purpose is to return to something "old"; eg. 1st Century Christianity as recorded in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles. Council - "An assembly of persons called together for consultation, deliberation, or discussion."  As a council, we provide oversight and stewardship for situations or projects we believe that the Lord has brought to us. California - Nicknamed the "Golden State".  Located on the West Coast of the United States.  It's often said that as California goes, so goes America! Acts 1:8 - "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth".  Hollywood is the epicenter of the trends of the earth and reaches to the uttermost parts of the earth!
